Quartets was a card game that inspired Top Trumps. It was invented in the 1960s by Austrian company Piatnik.
Instead of cards having statistics, the pack is divided into eight groups of four cards ("quartets"). Each group has a letter (A to G), and each of the four cards in the set has a different number (e.g. A1, A2, A3, A4).
The game is played by three or more players, who are trying to get complete Quartets. The first player can ask any other player if they have a certain card (e.g. C3); if so, they must give them the card. If not, then it becomes the turn of the player who was incorrectly asked, to ask any other player for a card.
